Hi folks...how many of you have sent off a tube letter? I hope you had fun with that project! Now, on to another fun project. Ok, I hate to say this, ahem.... but I think I have "arrived"! I am getting serious about this "mail art" thingy. I have purchased...gulp...vellum envelopes! As you well know... all serious mail artists have a huge stash of washi tape...rubber stamps.... stickers.... custom made envelopes...and of course that would include...Vellum. Ta-da!!!!
So since my last post we talked about trying to get out of our doldrums of letter- writing...I thought I would include this little project. In my letters that I included, I stated that I thought that "it was time that we got transparent with our letter-writing" . Literally , Ha! Ok, I guess I have a sort of weird sense of humor, but folks, if you were the mother of 10...you would understand! Alright, back to the project.
You might wind up with a creative mess like I did. I had to get out quite a few supplies...washi tape, stickers, glue, confetti, etc.
I added some 3-D stickers on the outside which required hand-canceling at the post office...which required another 20 cent stamp. The added fee was to make sure this letter didn't go through those nasty machines. I think if it did go through the sorting machines, it would get stuck and get torn up...so the extra postage would be necessary to get it there in one piece. And for those of you who receive one of these, would you let me know if it arrived intact? And I never get tired of the comments that the postal clerks make when they see my little projects. It must brighten their day too, don't you suppose??
Getting the inside of your letter to show through , and positioning things takes a bit of time. But I think it is worth it!

Don't forget your enclosures!!! Forget-Me-Not seeds are such a sweet enclosure. They are on sale at the Dollar Tree for 25 cents a pack. Snatch some up for future writing ventures! See the package of seeds? Make sure it is facing outward! In this project, the back is as important as the front! And never forget to properly seal your letter....wax seals are such fun!

ReplyDeleteYour envelopes are awesome. Do you use tape (or something else) to make sure everything stays in the position you arranged them in?

DeleteWell done Lady Pamela, I love your vellum envelopes they look fabulous. I have been thinking of writing my letters on vellum as I used to be able to get the very thin paper but these days I'm struggling to get it. You always inspire me Lady Pamela, so thank you for that.

If you find the very thin paper, let me know your source...I too, have been looking for some "onion paper" ...that is how I have heard it referred to...but can not find any either.
