Pocket Letter

It took me one crafty session to knock this out.  I think I had to mentally get into the gear of this project, but I could see that you could do some of the steps  separately before hand.  For instance.  You could definitely cut your "background" papers  in a separate session.  That would eliminate quite a bit of time with that one step.  Arrrgghh. I'm a terrible cutter.  But it is rather simple, cutting 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 inch rectangles.   Elaine sent me a cute little "cover" card----where did you get this cute thing , Elaine?  I had some large tags which were about the same size, so I just used one of these.  I used the pink bling factor...

This is the front of my Pocket Letter...my theme (because my, oh my, you MUST have a theme for these Pocket Letters!)"Faith , Hope and Love" in the style of  Vintage, or shabby chic.

 This is the BACK of my Pocket Letter.  Hmmm....looks a bit bare, doesn't it. ?

I went ahead and added some items that were not glued down so that she could use them  in future projects.  Elaine is the "Queen of Crafts" so I know she will know exactly what to do with these items!

This little pocket holds a folded up letter for Elaine.

All tucked away nicely in a business-sized envelope...but has to be sent as a parcel when you have lots of goodies in it.    But still, it is not too expensive and I think rather worth it , don't you?  

To carry  the  vintage style through I had to get madam Victorian boot wax stamp out and finish the job.

Pocket Letters....

The Pocket Letter Arrives...

Have you joined the Pocket Letter Craze? It is done by using the base ball card plastic card holder sleeves and creatively placing ephemera and (hopefully) a letter, in one of the pockets! I received my first one from my dear friend, Elaine. Look how cute she packaged it!  I have enjoyed watching this phenomenon grow, literally before my very eyes on Instagram.  It originated with  janettelane  and it has just exploded in popularity.  Check out her web site  or Pinterest to get ideas for your Pocket Letter.

The ingenious thing about the Pocket Letter is that it folds up and fits nicely in a business sized envelope!  Then it can be stored as it is in  a 3-ringed binder.  Everything about it screams:  Clever!  Elaine did an amazing job...Now I just need to find a base ball card page sleeve and get started on one to Elaine.

A Tri-fold Pocket Letter

This is my Tri-Fold Pocket letter, that is more like a wallet.  It is made from a 12X12 piece of scrap book paper that  you fold up from the bottom to make the pockets.  Washi tape is used to  made the pocket divisions.

But first things first.  The Letter.  This is to my daughter Lydia who lives several states away.  For her letter I decided to use graph paper for a change up.  She is my theater major, so I went ahead and illustrated the letter a bit, for extra flare.  

After the letter I started scrounging around for my green, orange, red, and pink items to include in the pockets.  After everything was arranged...

I took a piece of my Dollar Tree Frugal find, Ribbon, and tied it all together.

The flower you see in the left pocket,  was made by using this tear drop punch.  I glued the pieces (large ones underneath, smaller ones on top) and glued to a 3/4 inch circle  made with my punch.  I put a hole in the center and used a tiny brad in the middle.  You can use a pencil to curl the flower petals so they appear to be 3-D. 

I know.  This is a repeat of photo # 1. I'm sorry that  I don't have a picture of it in the envelope.  But let me tell you what I did.  I purchased some lip and tuck clear  cello bags off of Etsy and used it to be my envelope.  I placed about 5 stamps on it because it  had to go parcel rate.   I used a label for her address.  It was fun using the clear cello bag for mailing.    I am also using this method quite a bit for my Bi- Fold Pocket Letters.  Yay!  The best part is...it arrived safe and sound and my daughter found it on her pillow when she got home from an exhausting day...(thank you mom/Grandma!).  She said it was just what she needed at the end of her day.
