Customize It ...Please!

My mission...on a rubber stamp!

Hello everyone.  This post is  not related too much to snail mail, but in some ways it is.  So hang in there while I explain! I live in Virginia where nearly every car has a customized license plate, usually telling the world something about themselves.  I can relate to this, especially in the snail mail realm.  I wanted to have a customized rubber stamp that would state my mission and so I purchased this some time ago, to use on most of my Etsy packaging , but I also use it on some of my mail.  I love the special touch it adds to mail going out.

Here is mine--it's  self -inking!  Whoo Hoo!  I believe I got this particular rubber stamp off of Groupon  a year or so ago.  There are so many companies that offer customized rubber stamps...a quick look at ETSY will bring up a good number.  But all that to say, I use this little tool nearly everyday.

Do you have a mission?  A passion?  Why not put it into words and share it with others?

Write  a letter today,

Pam

File Folder Letters

Here's how you can make your own!

Has the change in weather, frosty mornings, scarves and sweaters put you into a letter writing mood?  I have enjoyed reaching for my autumn themed letter supplies and thought I would share this most recent project.

Last month in September, I was admiring all of the gorgeous yellow flowers.  I 'm sorry to report that I have not identified this specimen in my wild flower book  yet. They were EVERYWHERE in central Virginia. I thought they would be good to press for some mail art.  I had to pass by the beautiful cone flowers that were plentiful as well because the centers were a bit too bulky to press.

Here is my "official" flower press machine.  Perfect use for the Janson and Janson that just lays on the shelf.

I was afraid that it might be too early for these flowers, but I was pleasantly surprised when  I opened Janson and Janson.  They were perfectly pressed.

This picture is just a bit of a close up.  I love the flower.  So simple, but so beautiful.

\

I have had this cheap label maker for ages and never used it.  But for this project, it was worth getting out.  I think the black labels on the craft file folder look great.

Here is the front of the file folder project.

Autumn.  I love you!

I hope you will give the file folder snail mail project a try.  The possibilities are endless, just use your imagination.  It's a fun way to send a letter to someone and share some memorabilia along with it.  Share  your love of autumn with someone too.

Letter Writing Kits

Do You Know Of Someone Who Needs A Little Push?

I have friends and acquaintances who when the conversation rolls around to my favorite topic (letter writing) act completely befuddled!  When I mention writing a letter or talking about pen pals, they look at me with wide-eyed amazement!   It never ceases to puzzle me that many people today have never thought of writing a letter. Our fast pace, portable electronic device driven world is at a total loss when it comes to writing a letter.  Most people do not have the supplies at hand to compose a thoughtful letter, let alone a crafty, interesting letter.  I think that is how and why I began to develop the complete  Letter Writing Kits that are available at my Etsy store:  LostArtRevived.  I have several themed kits and more to come.  The "Pen Pals" kit is the most popular kit that I offer. You can find out all about it  at my store.  They make great gifts for birthdays, or for a friend who is wanting to find their way into the snail mail world.  It might just take a little push.

DIY: Making Post Cards

Turn Your Art Into Post Cards

Do you like to make your own postcards, or have you never tried?  I enjoy postcards, and I am a member of  a great group called Post Crossing.  This is a great organization for receiving and sending postcards from around the world.  If you find your mail box more empty than full these days, sign up at : Post Crossing and get that mail box full!

DIY postcards might be better suited to Swap Bot  (another great organization), as Post Crossing usually requires purchased cards.  Whichever route you decide to take, making postcards for your personal pen pals is great fun.

When I purchase a product that I am really pleased with, I want to share it with others.  Here are the details of my most recent purchase.  I received this rubber stamp in the mail the other day from an order I placed online from Hobby Lobby. Just a side note:  I was pleasantly surprised by the online sale of 40% off which almost gave me free shipping.  It is quite large, as far as rubber stamps go.

Here is the back side of the rubber stamp--just in case you were interested.

I didn't have a stamp pad large enough to lay it down and stamp the ink, so I improvised and just wiped my stamp pad ,seen here, across the rubber.  It worked just fine and I was VERY pleased with the quality of the stamp.

Now these post cards can be sent out properly.  If you are one to make your own postcards, you might want to consider  one of these stamps.  I had been meaning to get one of these for quite a long time and now I am glad I made the purchase.

Snail Mail HELPS

How about logging your letter writing?

A good friend of mine sent me her customized page for keeping track of her incoming and outgoing letters and other snail mail projects.  It is very streamlined and appealing to the eyes...not too cluttered.  I like that.  She also has a swapbot business sized card which I think is so clever.  It has a place to include the name of the swap and a little reminder to rate her !
Here it is up close.  Great Job!

Let's keep it organized, right?

Do you have any favorite Snail Mail Tools?

A Few Of My Favorite Things!

Do you have a favorite crafting, snail mail tool?  I had been looking for something like this for quite some time.  It is a bit pricey, but with a coupon, it is do-able.  I found mine at Hobby Lobby.  It also comes with a second set of symbols:  *!  & $ # @....etc.  I hope to add that to mine some day.  But for now this set will have to do. It has been a great help and makes stamping multiple projects a breeze.

This is the most recent use I had for this tool:

Frugal Finds...Dollar Tree Score!

"Frugal Finds Round Up"

On my stationery buying round, I try to always make it to the Dollar Tree.  They usually have something up their sleeves!  Here are some cute  Eiffel Tower sticky notes and page flags that will be perfect for  my Kikki Planner...and of course , any planner.  I couldn't resist and got two.

I thought this little note book in a flap over purse style was cute.

I have been purchasing my ribbon here too.  They have sheer...sparkly sheer, sequins, and even silky ribbon.  I love the gold thin ribbon.  Perfect for parcels.

I have seen this at Dollar Tree for quite some time.  I will be using this on my vintage mailings.

If you do a fair amount of parceling like I do...then don't pass up the packing tape! (Wish they carried the cute printed packing tape!)

I love their cute colorful paper clips.  They carry two sizes.  These are the large, and they carry the smaller ones as well.

That ends my "Frugal Finds Round Up"or Dollar Tree. They haven't had any washi tape lately , boo!   Leave me a comment on what you find yourself snatching up at the Dollar Tree Stationery section!

Waxing Eloquent!

The Joys of Wax Seals...

]
Here is my current collection.

The Victorian Boot...

Homing pigeon carrying a letter...

The quill pen and ink well...

One of my heart seals...

This seal comes in handy for sending out my "thank you's".  This particular wax got pretty sooty...I have heard there is a way to keep the soot from contaminating your wax...I just have never gotten hold of the secret!  Does anyone care to enlighten me?

Vintage and not so Vintage finds...

Snail Mail Tools...

I love when I find a product that is just right.  Here is one, if you like vintage sort of embellishments for your snail mail adventures...or perhaps journals... you might want to give Littlejenstore over at  Etsy a look.  I was very pleased.  It took a little bit for delivery (ships from Hong Kong), I had forgotten I had ordered it.  But it arrived safe and sound.

I purchased two sets.  Most of them are perforated for the individual stickers.  Some of the sheets are not perforated, but could be used with punches.

Here is some ways I have used these cute stickers  on some of my envelopes recently...

Don't forget the B-side!

And here is Miss Piggy...Vintage style!

Oh, I do love Mr. Rooster!
