Snail Mail Outgoing...Collage, Flip Books, and More!

A Peek Into My Outgoing Mail...

An envelope using a bit of collage technique, vintage style.

Flip book, bi fold going out....hmmm....what label looks good here?  I wish craft manufacture would produce more VINTAGE items like these.  Does anyone have a favorite craft store for vintage items, online , perhaps?

These are simple to make and just a fun way to use all those pretty papers and die cuts that you want to put to good use, right?  I have folded the letter and put it into a cello bag.  Why?  I'm not sure.  Just another little something to open up I suppose.  Don't we like little packages?  The possibilities are endless.  I try to imagine the recipient  and what joy it can bring to them, so I just try to make whatever I send  out cheerful and fun.  A gift.

A recent letter I sent out.  The envelope is made and lined with scrapbooking paper.  I love the chintz print.

Here's another little flip book , bi fold that I recently sent out... Spread a little sunshine today!  Send out some pretty mail,  write a letter!  I know you can do it!

Happy Snail Mailing!

Kids Like to Write Too...

Yes, it's true... kids like to write letters too!

It was one of those evenings...you know.... dark, misty evenings.  And she came to me and asked for a candle.  "Why?" I asked.  She proceeded to tell me that she wanted  to write a letter.  Ahhhh....she was setting the mood for a good little letter writing session!  So I  naturally complied and lit the candles and off to work she went.   You can see the pleasure  and intensity in which she is applying herself to the task.  And of course, her little pen pals  enjoy original artwork with her letters.  It wasn't long before her big brother jumped in on the action too...ha ha...grandma had sent her a $1 in her last letter...he thought he might just try his luck and write a letter to grandma too.  No matter.  This is a scene I will always treasure!

When was the last time you wrote by candlelight?  It is an experience that is unmatched!  Give it a try ...especially as we head into the winter months.  You'll be glad you did!

A few Fun Things...All Things POSTAL...

Snail Mail Tools...and this and that!

I have a collection of fountain pens...but have  had some issues with most of them. I don't want to "give up" on fountain pens...because I feel  much more motivated to write a nice long letter with one, and I feel more authentic when I use one!  Besides, I just love the variety of inks that are available and I relish the tactile, multi-sensory feel that you get by using the fountain pen.  Some of them have a scratchy sound, different nibs have  a different feel, and some of the inks have different aromas. Also, working with different inks, I've noticed how some just make your pen glide across the paper, others are more finicky . Since  I don't have much money to invest I am looking for the best "bang for my buck".  All that being said, I have decided to  start taking the pen reviewers, reviews, a bit more seriously.  I have  a few of these reviewers linked to my site, so I hope you will avail yourself  to their wisdom.  I am starting to experiment and branch out a bit but I am truly a newbie.  It is quite fun.  The folks at Goulet pens have a nice Fountain Pen 101 site that is most helpful.  http://www.gouletpens.com/  My next pen will be a Lamy with an interchangeable nib.

I love the artistic element of these inks!  There are lots of colors to choose from in nearly every ink supplier.  In the future I think I will try out the sample vials.

Uh,oh.  Inky fingers.  I don't know how to fix this leak, but it writes so well, I am not deterred.  The company that produces this pen is not too far from where I live.  I believe I will make a field trip soon to check out their store.

Mimi's book club Out-going!  One of my daughters does secret shopping at the USPS.  She let me know that she needed some parcels to post and asked if I had any to go out.  These went out for free! Yay!  Thank you , dear Maddie!   I am checking into being a secret shopper and picking up the USPS jobs.  You  might want to check this out as well to save you some money if you are sending out a good number of packages.

Asher's arrived today!  I had to include some "Firemen" books in his package, as  his daddy is a brave fireman.

This is just what I gathered one day on a stroll down the office aisle.  I have some ideas of how to use these items in the near future , especially for making my own stamped stickers.  Be on the look-out in future posts!

Have fun with your snail mail adventures.

Summer Sunshine Mail/ Mail Fit For A Princess/ And FINALLY...

Summer Sunshine Mail

It is Summer time... and we are in the thick of it now, being the middle of July  So it is time to send some "Sunshine Mail"  to someone  and add some zing to their day!!  Aren't these colors  cheerful and full of fun??  Mail like this would put a smile on anyone's face!
***************
Summer  Time  Postal Adventures  for Kids!

And because it is summer, my attention naturally turns towards children and activities that might engage them  in postal adventures.   I hope to spotlight several unique activities that  could encourage children you know or have living right under your own roof this summer. These activities will engage the child in  educational endeavors or just plain fun as they explore the world around them. Here we go... I thought I would start out with...

Mail Fit For A Princess!!!

Do you have one living in your home?  I do.  I thought she was just my daughter...my 10th child...and my 6th daughter...but no, I was wrong.  She's not just my daughter, she's a princess too!  Yes, many of you have a princess or a "princess-wanna-be" living in your very own home.  Did you know that princesses need to connect with other princesses?    Well they do, and this is just the activity  to get your princess connected to another princess at Walt Disney World or Disney Land.  All you need to do is to have your child write to  ANY Disney princess she would like  and include your address, and in approximately 6 weeks  she will receive a picture post card autographed by the princess she wrote!

Excuse these princesses for not being in their Royal Attire, but they had just been in pool...and couldn't find their Tiaras.  We invited two little neighbor girls to join in the princess fun.  They wrote lovely letters.  We had letters going out to : Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, and Belle (my personal favorite!).

I believe this was these girls (ahem, excuse me, "Princesses") first postal adventure!  They were pros at mail art with all of the princess stickers!

So find your princess and get her connected  postally to another princess! Here  are the addresses in which to send your inquiries:
