My Happy Mail Box!

I am sorry to be so behind on posting incoming mail.  But here are two of my most recent.

This cute little Halloween Letter made it to me rather late because it was sent to my old address.

But, because we live in the most efficient  postal  country in the world...it was delivered to me after a little visit at my former home in the country.   Laura is a Pinterest folllower, and if my stats tell me ANYTHING....there are a lot of you out there! ;-)   Laura is a calligrapher...and her work is beautiful! Thank you so much, Laura, I will be writing you soon!

The beautiful autumn themed envelope was from my dear friend , Elaine!  She is one of my super talented card making whizzes!  I absolutely love to be on the receiving end of one of her beautiful cards.  She has recently started selling her cards locally at a local book shop.  She should do very well!

Incoming Stationery Haul....

Parcels are so much fun to receive, right?  

This nice big envelope arrived in the mail from Global Pen Pal.  (And I have NO idea why her cute envelope is upside down in each picture!) She was so thoughtful to send me her nice de-stash of stationery.  

For those of you not familiar...this stationery comes from the Victorian Trading Post.

I try to send "global" themed mail to Global Pen pal whenever I can.

And of course...a letter also!  Speaking of which...If you have written me, I am attacking my pile as quickly as possible.  More posts coming on YOUR beautiful snail mail!

Incoming:Vintage, Postal Themed Mail!

The envelope was only the start to a wonderful what was to come!

Just look at this gorgeous hand made, zippered pouch from the Tim Holtz postal fabric made by my new instagram friend, Patti! Super for keeping a stash of postal goodies , especially good for on the run letter writing! You can find her on instagram as:  pmarti5.  You'll want to check her out, she makes fabulous mail art!

The note card is so amazing!  Made of thick , cotton-y like paper...lovely!  And write back...I did!  You'll see my letter to Patti in a future post.

Mish Mash of EVERYTHING Snail Mail!

 Sister Mail, Lords and Ladies, Philately, Watercolor boo- boos, and a Camper friend!

Here are a few of my outgoing of lately.  The Map Envelope is on its way to the Netherlands to a Lord and Lady couple; the Watercolor is Sister mail; and the kawaii Hello Kitty is to a trusty pen pal.

These beauties came from Global Pen Pal.  She is an antique hound, so she keeps an eye out for vintage postage.    I love that I had need seen one of them...the Lacemaking USA stamp.  

A recent outgoing to Global PenPal couldn't just have a Forever stamp.  I had a red and blue color scheme going on this envelope, so I looked for some cool blue stamps.  I think they fit the bill!

When you have a  collage going on with your envelope, don't forget to put a little extra postage, or in this case , I also put the envelope in a clear cello bag envelope, then I placed the stamps on the cello bag so they could be cancelled.

This arrived from Amelia.  Doesn't she have some nice art work  on this envelope?  She also included a quill feather.  She is a entrepreneur...and quite young.  She has an  Etsy Store and is such a "go-getter",  wonderfully talented and hard working.

I love the stamp...one of the new florals that are out.  I think it looks like it BELONGS there.

See the glaring mistakes?  Why did I feel the need to outline the rock?  Haha.  Ok, this picture is going to stay on the small scale...not extra large.  

Some more watercolor, with some really atrocious errors (notice the thumb placement?  I'm covering a big mistake there), but it was my first attempt at this study.  My oldest daughter and her family just recently moved to a very rural area with a lovely stream.  I tried to capture that as best I could.  In reality it is a much more shaded, darker area than I have depicted  here.  I sent it, mistakes and all to my sister, who will soon be here on a visit.  My sister and I have started a water color exchange project.  She has wanted to experiment with watercolors and I have too, so it makes a nice challenge. 

** See below comments.  If you mail a letter portrait instead of  landscape you would need to add extra postage.  I forgot to do this as you can see, but thankfully, the letter made it just fine.  I did send out a previous water color envelope (portrait) that was held up at the post office until the receiver went and paid the extra postage.  Talk about embarrassment!

Incoming and Outgoing...Making Mail!

 My mailbox has been plenty busy as of late ...

 What a beautiful bunch of mail that I have had coming into my mail box!  South Africa...Bulgaria...Finland...United Kingdom...and all over the USA!

This was a Mystery Package from Global Penpal... it was rather large and flat...

What a delight! I had sent her a Virginia shaped mail for my intro letter...and look at this beautiful John Smith map print!  Thank you Global Penpal!

I found that Finland's shaped stamps were intriguing!  So cute...at first I thought they were stickers  until I inspected more closely.

With spring in the air (and a lot of pollen blowing around too!)  I just couldn't resist playing around with pink, flowers, and ribbons to put together a bit of happy mail!  Just on the frugal note...the ribbon pictured here (which I love for snailmail) was purchased at the Dollar Tree...they had several pastels to choose from.  And I have noticed that several of the craft stores have put quite a few things on clearance in the paper goods.  Keep your eye out for deals this time of year for your paper crafting stash.

On a personal note...if you have written me, please have patience with me as I have been preparing to quit my job and have had to tie up loose ends.  Yay.  This will allow me more time to devote to my letter writing.  But do not despair... I have carefully recorded all of my incoming , your name, date I received, and they are being answered (happily!)in a systematic fashion, so hopefully this week I will be all caught up!

Incoming and / The Love and Kindness Project

Look what came in my mail box

OK.  I am ashamed that I had not joined before now.    For those of you that don't know what this is, it is the welcome letter from the Letter Writer's Alliance (LWA).  Look on my right side bar and you will find the button that will take you right out to their site.  It is well worth the $5.  

I just had to show off my membership.  Yep.  I'm a card-carrying member now.  So now I can walk with my head held high...instead of the shame.

The cheerful looking mailer package was from my dear friend Elaine.  She is an amazing card maker deluxe.  She also makes these whimsical beauties of envelopes from old calenders or whatever she might have handy.

This shot is so you can see that it is the pretty side of a picture calender.

Ah.....this is for ME!  Do you see all of the Austen-ish goodness on this envie?

My daughter, Lydia is a Legolas fanatic.  The sticky note says, that this envie is for her.  When I handed it to h er ,she instantly loved it and said that she could NEVER use it.

Elaine also sent me a few pictures of  a project that she has started called 

#theloveandkindnessproject.  You can follow her project on instagram.  She has a friend who has a husband with Alzheimer's.  She decided to show a bit of love and kindness by sending her a box of Sunshine!

Such a nice selection of goodies...and so cheerful with the nice sunny color scheme, guaranteed to bring some sunshine into any body's life.  Thanks for sharing this, Elaine.  And thank you for my beautiful envelopes.  Now, it is my turn to send some goodies to Elaine!

 And to continue our little talk on "Little Things"   ( post: Snail Mail and Little Things)...I have been noticing bursts of yellow sunshine all along our country roadsides...in nearly every ditch...around every corner.  I'm not sure  what these are...getting out my Newcomb's Wildflower Guide to identify...

And the golden rod is in it's full fury  of splendor! Such a splash of sunshine...perhaps its parting gift as we head into the shorter days of autumn.  Have you been noticing the "little things" around you?

Why not make some one's day a bit cheerier by sitting down and writing a letter?  You will find yourself enjoying it as well.
